Hi, I'm Jance

Teacher, SENCo, qualified children's yoga and wellbeing teacher, mum of two. I've spent over ten years in UK schools, and Conscious Cubs is what I built when I realised the thing children needed most wasn't being taught anywhere.

It started with the same families coming through the door

In 2023 I was teaching children's yoga and wellbeing, preschools, holiday camps, private classes. The children loved it and the feedback from parents was inspiring. But something wasn't sitting right, it was the same families every time. The ones with the money, and the understanding of what wellbeing is. The children who needed it most never walked through the door, and a private class was never going to reach them.

Then I asked nineteen schools one question

That same year I was choosing a primary school for my daughter. I visited nineteen. I asked every one: "What do you do for children's wellbeing?"

Not one had a solid answer. Weather check-ins, a yoga day, ELSA for the children in crisis. All good things, and all of them something other than wellbeing education. Nothing structured or progressive, nothing every child receives as a normal part of the school week.

Think about it, most of us learned to look after our own wellbeing the hard way, as adults, mid-life, between jobs and bills and family. Why isn't it simply taught, from age four, like reading?

So I built the thing I couldn't find

I listed every barrier schools actually face, and designed around each one:

"There's no budget for a wellbeing teacher"

→ Your own staff deliver it, fully scripted.

"Our teachers are stretched thin"

→ Every lesson pre-planned; prep is printing and gathering listed materials.

"Our class has significant SEN"

→ SEN adaptations written into every activity, by a SENCo.

"Wellbeing programmes cost thousands"

→ Priced for real school budgets, whole school.

Since 2023 it's been a labour of love, create, get real feedback, refine, pilot, refine again. Every lesson tested with real children before it reached the page.

Every child, inside the school day

This is the line I won't move on. Conscious Cubs is not an after-school club, and I don't run private classes anymore. If wellbeing matters, it can't depend on which parents can pay, it has to happen where every child already is: the classroom.

Where this is going

Conscious Cubs is a start-up, and I'd rather be honest about that than pretend otherwise. It's founder-built, growing deliberately, and every school that joins now shapes what it becomes. What's ahead:

  • The full primary curriculum, Reception to Year 6, rolling out progressively
  • Secondary school modules, exam stress, the Year 6-to-secondary transition, seasonal pressure points
  • Staff CPD and in-school wellbeing days, alongside the curriculum, never instead of it
  • A community of Conscious Cubs schools, teachers sharing what's working across schools, with free trainings as part of the offering
  • The bigger vision, wellbeing education as normal as literacy, in every school, for every child
